Fête des Lumières – Lyon, France
Between December 8-10, 2016, witness the Fête des Lumières in Lyon. Only a two-hour train ride from Paris, Lyon is home to a yearly festival that traces its roots back hundreds of years, to a Catholic tradition of lighting candles in the name of Mary. At nightfall, historic buildings become a backdrop for colorful displays coordinating light and music.
Diwali – India
Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, lasts from October 19-23, 2017. While it’s celebrated all over the world, one of the most incredible places to experience it is the “Pink City” of Jaipur, in Rajasthan.
