My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary on two beautiful islands. Once you arrive in the capital city Male, you’ll be transferred by boat or seaplane to your resort.
We stayed at the Banyon Tree Vabbinfaru, this small tropical island is exactly what you envision when thinking of the tropics. We arrived by boat, greeted with a refreshing beverage and were immediately whisked off to an ocean-view pool villa. These beachfront villas offer direct beach access, ocean views from the bed as well as open concept bathrooms and private pools. You can spend your day snorkeling foot-steps from your villa or floating in your pool- both in absolute solitude. The only time you will possible see others is at breakfast or watching the sunset…
After a few nights at the Banyan Tree, we were whisked off to One & Only Reethi Rah by private yacht which is a major WOW to start.
This 5 star luxury resort is much larger than Banyan Tree with a totally different style. Once on island, you are transported between all of the facilities by buggy (AKA golf cart). They have multiple dining venues, beach club facilities for both adults and families, world class spa facilities, tennis, etc. The accommodations are offered in either Beach Villas (which we had) or Over Water Villas – both are stunning and one of the largest units I have ever had at a resort. The property was at 90% occupancy yet the beach in front of villa was empty – pure paradise
Sadly, all good things must come to an end. Luckily saying good-bye wasn’t too hard as we departed by seaplane and were able to enjoy to views on our various island fly-overs. Best beach vacation – ever!!! The next time you consider the tropics, contact me for the Maldives. You will thank me!
