The Space Needle has been a fixture on the Seattle skyline for over five decades. Now, it’s scheduled for a large renovation to be completed in 2018.
While the outside won’t change much, the inside will be getting quite the facelift. Most notably, its dated restaurant will be revamped into a glass-floored dining experience with exhilarating views.
Outside on the platform, the metal safety cage will be replaced with clear panels to offer unimpeded views across the city from five hundred feet up in the air. Clear glass benches will line the platform.
In addition to these flashy upgrades, more practical changes are also on the way. More doors and stairways will be added for ease of access, as well as improvements for disabled visitors.
