Alaska Airlines has just announced a plan to begin commercial service out of Paine Field in Everett, Washington starting fall 2018.
“As our region continues to grow at a record pace and Sea-Tac Airport nears capacity, the time is right,” said Alaska Airlines Chief Executive Brad Tilden. “Today’s news means less time stuck in traffic on Interstate 5 and more time enjoying your vacation or making the most of your business trip.”
Alaska is hoping to make it easier for Snohomish and North King County residents to fly by avoiding a difficult commute south to Sea-Tac, which can exceed 80 minutes during peak times.
Nine daily departures are scheduled to depart from Paine Field. Routing has not yet been announced but Oregon and California are expected to be popular destinations.
The first of these flights are expected to go on sale in early 2018.
