Great news for volcano lovers, the National Park Service selected a new management company for the historic Volcano House Hotel and expects to reopen by the end of 2012.  Hawaii Volcanos Lodge Company, owned by Aqua Hotels and Resorts, has been chosen to run the operation of the Volcano House Hotel located just off the rim of Kilauea caldera on the Big Island of Hawaii.  The hotel, closed for the past two years, underwent 4 million in renovations by the parks department and will continue another 2 to 3.5 million in renovations under the new management group.

Mark Twain wrote in 1866 that 'The surprise of finding a good hotel in such an outlandish spot startled me considerably more than the volcano did.'
