Hugging the mountainside 3,000 feet above the Paro Valley is Tiger’s Nest, or Paro Taktsang Monastery. It is one of the holiest sites in Bhutan, as well as a breathtaking place to visit.

Legend has it that in the 8th century, an Indian Buddhist guru flew to the site upon the back of a magical tiger. He then meditated there for three years, and is credited with introducing Buddhism to Bhutan. To commemorate this, Tiger’s Nest was built in the 1600’s, and has been rebuilt several times since.
