Here’s an interesting place to cross off your foodie bucket list – the oldest continually operating restaurant in the world.
The title belongs to Regensburg’s Historic Sausage Kitchen, which has been a restaurant since the mid-12th century, making it over 800 years old.
While the name has changed and the building has been updated over the centuries, the restaurant has been in operation all this time. Today, their specialty is grilled sausages, served on a roll with mustard and sauerkraut – and best accompanied by a cold German beer. On average, they serve around 6,000 sausages every day.
Visit this unique establishment and the UNESCO heritage site of Regensburg, Germany on a 7-night Romantic Danube river cruise with Viking. They offer departures throughout the year; call your Stellar Travel advisor to choose your sailing date.
