Most would easily recognize the stomping, clapping, and split jumps as the traditional Russian folk dance but how did it come to be? The dance came to be during the 10th century during various invasions, including the Polish Expedition to Kiev and the Rus’-Bysantine War, and their connection with parts of Asia through trade. With European and Asian influences, the Russian folk dances were developed and were an expression of the people through difficult times. While dancing is a large part of our lives, the experience is one to see first-hand and who better to experience this fine dancing tradition than with Viking Cruises!
If you’re ready for a journey on the Tsars River, call your Stellar Travel advisor before June 30th and ask them about the complimentary airfare through Viking!
