Many of our clients have reported that the most interesting port they visited on their Adriatic cruise was a stop in the beautiful city of Venice.  For those of you planning to take your first cruise or revisit Venice, this is the time!

In an effort to save the sinking city of Venice and retain its historic charm and skyline, a special commission approved a plan to divert all cruise ships away from Venice’s center by 2016 and all ships larger than 3,000 passengers will be eliminated by November 1st , 2014

On their current path to port, cruise ships pass within 1000 feet of St Mark’s Square, an unparalleled view of the city of Venice.  By 2016 those smaller ships who are permitted to dock will sail through the soon to be built west entrance into the lagoon. The new plan will limit the number of cruise ships allowed in port to five, down from the current nine.  2014 and 2015 sailings are now open for reservations, contact your Stellar Travel advisor at 800.445.3265 for pricing and availability.
