What’s the hottest cruise for 2015? It may not be on the ocean anymore as river cruises are quickly growing in popularity and, at times, demand is outpacing availability. I’ve been intrigued by all of the buzz and wanted to find out for myself: what makes river cruising so special?
On previous vacations I’ve already explored several of Europe’s most beautiful rivers with Viking River Cruises and AmaWaterways. Now I’m looking forward to cruising on another popular cruise line – Avalon Waterways. April , 2015 I’ll be out of the office for an 8-day cruise on Avalon Tapestry sailing on the Seine from Paris to Normandy.
River cruising offers some important differences from ocean cruising. River cruisers love being docked in the heart of the villages and towns allowing an easy walk off the ship to explore on their own. Many of your guided shore excursions are already included in the package price. On our Avalon cruise itinerary we’ll have the opportunity to explore Claude Monet’s Gardens, Napoleon’s Château de Malmaison, and take a historical excursion to the landing beaches at Normandy.
Each river cruise company I have experienced has offered some unique differences. Now, after returning from my Avalon Waterways river cruise, I will be able to compare three river cruise lines and make suggestions that will be a perfect fit for you.
