With over 30 million people traveling each year with their pets it’s difficult for the travel industry to ignore that Fido and Buttons need a place to stay and be comfortable too. In honor of our four legged loved ones, this week is pet week on the Stellar Travel blog.

Security proceedures at US airports allow you to bring your pet through check points and to your flight. You should contact your Stellar Travel Advisor or airline before arriving to determine airline policy. You will most likely be asked to take your pet out of it’s carrier and remove it’s harness. All but the most relaxed pets may get a little skittish and particularly for cats, we recommed you ask for a private room for your screening through security.
From the TSA: You will need to present the animal to the Security Officers at the checkpoint. You may walk your animal through the metal detector with you. If this is not possible, your animal will have to undergo a secondary screening, including a visual and physical inspection by our Security Officers.
Your animal will NEVER be placed through an X-ray machine. However, you may be asked to remove your animal from its carrier so that the carrier can be placed on the X-Ray machine.
