Happy packing!
Kari Mollan: Stay hydrated and powered up with an empty water bottle (fill it after security) and a phone charger. Pack snacks to avoid airport markups and a pen for those pesky arrival forms. Most importantly, keep your medications and keys securely in your carry-on.
Denise Larson: Never check essentials! Here’s what Denise packs in her carry-on: prescriptions, wallet, passport, laptop and accessories, glasses, sanitizer wipes, keys, itinerary, tickets, snacks, a change of clothes, phone and charger, jewelry, camera and charger, headphones, reading material, a portable charger, toothbrush, toothpaste, and travel-sized toiletries.
Kay Steck: Staying hydrated is key, especially when traveling. Bring an empty, reusable water bottle and fill it up after going through security. This not only saves you money on expensive airport beverages but also helps reduce plastic waste. Consider a collapsible water bottle to save space when it’s empty.
Tracy Hughes: Label your bag with destination info for easy identification. Pack earplugs and an eye mask for in-flight relaxation, travel-sized toiletries, medications, essential documents in a Ziploc bag, glasses and cleaning cloth, phone and portable charger, necessary electronics chargers, a computer/tablet, a change of clothes, Ziploc bags for organization, snacks, a refillable water bottle, and a small lock for added security. Don’t forget a scarf or light jacket for chilly plane rides!
Jess McCulloch: A portable first-aid kit with band-aids, blister pads, pain relievers, and motion sickness medication can be a lifesaver!
John Crawley: Consider the Twelve South AirFly for using wireless headphones with in-flight entertainment systems. Also, before embarking on a longer trip, remember to stop your mail and newspaper deliveries to avoid a pile-up signaling your absence. And don’t forget to adjust your thermostat – setting it to around 62°F in the winter or simply turning it down in other seasons can save energy and money while you’re away.
Lisa Turner: Pack at least one full outfit and essential toiletries in your carry-on in case your checked luggage gets lost. A good book is always a great travel companion.
